What is PACTware?
PACTware manufactures, and is, a fieldbus independent adjustment software for use with field instruments of a number of manufacturers.
The PACT of PACTware means Process Automation Configuration Tool.
PACTware is simple to operate, making it a great asset management tool. On top of that it is a high quality universal software with revisions coming out regularly to keep up with the latest technology changes. The latest edition is PACTware 3.6.
Previous versions include, which can also be downloaded.
What is PACTware used for?
PACTware software is used to communicate with your plant instrumentation via digital interfaces (communication protocols like HART, profibus, foundation fieldbus, modbus, Ethernet, cable, controlnet and RS232). This communication is how instruments are configured optimally for their application requirements and process conditions.
How does PACTware Work?
As PACTware is a universal and manufacturer independent software, the userface is adapted to whichever brand of field instrument you use. Each Manufacturer will produce DTMs (Device Type Manager) that can be uploaded into PACTware, so that the software can understand each manufacturers’ instrument.
This understanding is made possible by a common standardised interface called FDT (Field Device Technology), which allows the device and digital interface to communicate in a common language.
